SPS installs high-tech equipment at ACE-SPED, UNN, in the materials characterisation lab

The SPS team has successfully installed and conducted training for the Axia ChemiSEM Scanning Electron Microscope at the Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Power and Energy Development (ACE-SPED), University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

This state-of-the-art SEM is now a centerpiece in the materials characterisation laboratory. Equipped for both qualitative and quantitative analyses, the Axia ChemiSEM enables advanced imaging, image-centric analysis, X-ray spectral mapping and line scanning with its Back-Scattered Electron Detector (BSED).

Its exceptional capabilities allow for in-depth analysis, visualisation, and quantification of microstructures, significantly advancing research and innovation in materials science.

“Professor Emenike Ejiogu, Director of ACE-SPED, highlighted during a recent briefing that the acquisition and installation of this cutting-edge equipment support the center’s commitment to sustainable research and development.”
